I received this last week as a birthday present and used it tonight for the first time. I HATE this product!!!! It was very heavy to use, the cleaning pads are very hard to clip in place and the parts of the floor it did somewhat clean are sticky! It didn’t even get any dirt off our grout and our hard wood floors are very dull looking. Wasn’t to excited to try it since I already had a Shark steam mop but decided to any ways. Hoping I can get some money back on it and go get what I really wanted for my birthday, if not it’s going straight to the trash can.

I moved into a new house with all hard wood and tile floors so I gave away my carpet cleaner and bought an Oreck Steam It. While it seems as well made as other Oreck products, the quirks outway any benefits. To begin with, the design of the 4 clips that are supposed to hold the pad in place suggest that the pads have extra fabric in the vertical direction. They don’t. The additional fabric is in the horizontal direction and trying to get the pads to stay in place is no easy task. I have also pinched my fingers more times than I care to admit.
The instruction book makes little sense and the pictures do not coincide with what the directions tell you. I still can’t figure out exactly when to use which item and for what purpose.
Finally, the wand glides across surfaces as if it has been nailed to them.
David Oreck, you should be ashamed of yourself!

I bought this to clean my kitchen floor grout. It did a fantastic job. My grout looks like it did 10 years ago when we built the house. Totally worth every penny!

First- I am instruction manual gal- everytime I get a new product- I check out the manual. This manual and the Oreck info on their website is lacking (to say the least). I bought this to clean (yes, clean) my carpeted stair case AND to clean my stove top- But what I am finding is that the steam is no pressurized enough to pull off the stovetop gook that I can push up with my fingernail ( I know- gross, right?) AND it drips water while using that tool that focuses the steam out of one hole.
Also- the model came with water droplets already in it. Did they send me a refurb? SO when i called the Customer service (who are very good, BTW) to ask about the dripping, and to inquire whether there was a trigger to start the steam- she told me that : (1) the water drops inside were from the random testing that is done on some models prior to shipment; (2) the dripping is normal and (3) no, there was no trigger.
So I tried it on the stair, and well- I am underwhelmed. I am going to try it with the glider – and will update- but I came to the reviews here since I wondered how they can push this off as a pressurized steamer-
I am indeed an oreck owner- I love the vaccuums, but was real surprised and disappointed at the way this worked. Not only was it awkward- I really dont see how it cleans or even disinfects.

I bought the Steam-It to clean my wood floors. The problem I had was that I couldn’t keep the pad on long enough to do any real cleaning. The pad will not glide along the floor and the pad quickly comes unclipped with the slightest push of the wand.
The store salesperson suggested I push the wand at an angle to clean. I should angle it one way when I push forward and change the angle when I pull the wand back. That helped a little, but the pad still would easy unclip.
This is a very poorly designed product.
I managed to clean a 4×4 section of the floor before the pad became to dirty to use. So it does work OK. Now if only the pad would stay attached it might be a great product.
